Old Believers’ House Museum on Piirissaar Island

Piirissaar is a permanently inhabited island in Lake Peipus. Most of the island’s population is made up of Russian Old Believers who have used isolation to maintain their distinct culture and everyday life as much as possible for centuries. The museum in Piirissaar provides a good overview of the local history and life. The museum represents the customary life of Old Believers and it is also possible to explore the old and special prayer books and icons there.
The museum also offers, in accordance with the Old Believers’ traditions, a cup of samovar tea with Piirissaar’s sugar.

Open every day during the summer period from May 1 to September 30.
